Halloween Safety
Here at the offices of Chicago personal injury attorneys Friedman & Bonebrake, our clients are not merely a source of income. We genuinely care about the health and safety of everyone who meets with us. To help you stay safe during this year’s Halloween season, please observe the following safety tips.
Tips for Kids
- Be sure to pick a safe costume. Try to avoid anything that is flammable, obstructs your vision, interferes with your breathing, or has a lot of loose hanging material that be snagged or cause you to trip.
- Take an adult or older teenager when you go trick-or-treating. It’s dangerous for kids to be out at night alone.
- Plan your route before you go trick-or-treating, and be sure you know it well. You don’t want to get lost after dark.
- Don’t give personal information to strangers, and don’t ever get into a car with one.
- Don’t trespass or vandalize other people’s property. It’s not only rude, it can be dangerous.
Tips for Adults
- Know every activity your children will be attending on Halloween. Give them a time to come home, and make sure they know how important it is.
- If your children want to carve Jack o’ Lanterns, supervise them very carefully while they are around knives. Do not let small children use knives; have them draw a picture on the pumpkin for an adult to carve instead.
- If you attend a Halloween party, be sure to watch your alcohol intake. Don’t drive after drinking, and don’t let other guests do so. If anyone will volunteer, it may be best to have a designated driver for the night.
