Train Kills Pedestrian

Around 8:30 on Thursday night, a commuter train hit a pedestrian in Arlington Heights. The train was headed out of downtown Chicago where it left at 7:30pm. The collision killed the pedestrian.

Investigators closed the tracks for the next hour and a half. It is not known what the Arlington Heights man was doing on the tracks at that time.

Car Rolls Over, Bursts into Flame

This morning at 3am, a car hit a barrier, burst into flame and rolled over. The accident occurred on the Dan Ryan Expressway near 44th. The driver was left in serious condition afterward.

 In the accident, the car landed on its roof and burst into flame. The fire department responded, and reopened the road within the hour. The cause of the accident is not yet known.

Man Dies in Crash

A Dwight man died Sunday morning after a single car crash. The man was traveling south on Dwight Rd and was involved in the accident at 2am at the intersection with Gardner Rd.

The man's vehicle left the road and hit a culvert, sending the car into the air and causing it to land on its top on the southeast ditch of the intersection. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is still under investigation.

Woman Injured in Hit and Run

Monday evening, a Chicago woman was injured in a hit and run accident that left her hospitalized. The collision occurred in River Forest on Harlem Ave, just north of Lake St.

The driver was found later on Pleasant St in Oak Park where he was arrested. The woman is still in the hospital, recovering from the injuries sustained from the accident.

Salmonella Outbreak in Peanut Butter Products

Peanut Corp has recalled all of its peanut butter and peanut paste products that have been produced in Blakely, GA since July. This is connected with a recent outbreak of salmonella in 43 states.

So far there have been over 470 reported cases related to the salmonella outbreak. Of these, at least 90 involved hospitalization. The cause of this outbreak is not yet known, but it is under investigation and all affected products have been recalled.
