Three people, including a young girl, were injured in a five-vehicle accident in Chicago's Park Ridge neighborhood Thursday.
According to the accident report released by the Chicago Police Department, a 17 year-old girl from Park Ridge was exiting a McDonald's parking lot on Northwest Highway shortly after 7:30 a.m. when the accident occurred. Police say the teenager's 200 Pontiac Sunfire struck a 1994 Volvo which was traveling northwest on Northwest Highway. The Pontiac then struck two additional vehicles before colliding with a parked car.
The 17 year-old was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital following the crash. A 49 year-old man from Park Ridge and his 11 year-old passenger, believed to be his daughter, were also taken to Advocate Lutheran. The child sustained internal injuries and neck trauma in the crash. She is expected to make a full recovery.
The driver of the Volvo, 46 year-old Federico Balza, was arrested for driving without a license or insurance.
The 17 year-old girl was not ticketed, police say.
