A battery cable connector being improperly wired is at the root of an international recall announced by BMW. The recall affects roughly 1.3 million vehicles worldwide. The issue came to light after several complaints about the battery were expressed to the German automaker. 

An investigation into the complaints revealed that the wiring of battery cables could cause unwanted overheating and possible fires. One fire was reported in the United States, and therefore BMW recalled 367,000 cars in America. The vehicles that are affected were manufactured between 2004 and 2010, and include the 5-Series and 6-Series models. 

 Owners of the defective automobiles were advised to park their vehicles outside until they are able to have the problem repaired. The repairs began at the beginning of April, and are free at any participating BMW dealer.

This month, Honda announced a voluntary recall of more than 300,000 of their Pilot SUVs.  The recalled vehicles may have incomplete or missing stitching on the front lap seat belts, making them more likely to defect.  In the case of an accident, passengers riding in a seat with a defective seatbelt are more likely to be injured.

According to the car manufacturer, no reports of injury related to the seat belt defect have been reported.  However, in a report to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Honda states that they received 2 reports of seat belts breaking in their Pilot SUVs.

The recall includes vehicles manufactured between 2009 and 2011.  Honda dealerships will inspect any of the recalled vehicles for the manufacturing defect and replace any seat belts that need replacing.
