This past Sunday evening, four Chicago police officers were injured in an accident involving two squad cars in the West Side's South Austin neighborhood.

According to News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro, around 10:15 PM the two squad cars collided at the intersection of Central Avenue and Washington Boulevard during a chase.  Officials were unsure of exactly how the accident happened and whether or not any other vehicles were involved.

The injured officers were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and Stroger Hospital of Cook County.  Two of the policemen were described as in serious-to-critical condition, while the two others were in fair-to-serious condition.  None of the injuries were life-threatening.
