On December 30th, a Chicago man was wrongfully killed in a tragic industrial accident at Marquette Industrial Park.  According to reports, the man was trapped underneath three tons, or 6,000 pounds, of granite before being rescued.

Firefighters from Romeoville arrived on the scene to reports of an injury from a "work-related mishap" at around 9:15 A.M.  Fire Chief Mike Flaherty stated, "The victim was heavily entrapped and required extensive extrication".  Rescue crews determined that 23-year old Emilio Gallardo was dead upon arrival.

Firefighters and workers from a neighboring business worked to remove the victim for three hours.   Romeoville police are investigating the tragic accident.

Our utmost sympathies go out to Gallardo's family and friends.
