A woman from Indiana who was visiting her mother in Alton, Illinois has died after an early morning car accident near the intersection ofRoute 3 and Interstate 270.

Steve Nonn, the Madison County Coroner, says that 32year-old Heidi L. Walsh-Wait lost control of her vehicle and collided with aguardrail which caused her car to go airborne.

A witness to the accident said the vehicle overturned,striking the top of the concrete overpass at Interstate 270 in Granite City.Walsh-Wait was pronounced dead at the scene. She was married and had one child.According to Illinois State Police, that child was with Walsh-Wait’s mother atthe time of the accident.
