Motorist Killed in Crash on Chicago West Side

An out-of-state man driving a luxury car was killed when hecrashed into a viaduct and flipped Sunday on Chicago’s West Side.

The 31 year-old Stas Shilman of Fairport, New York, waspronounced dead at 1:20 a.m. at the scene of the accident. The crash occurred onthe 1300 block of South Western Avenue, near the intersection of Western andOgden Avenue.

Shilman was driving a Mercedes-Benz C-240 sedan southboundon Western at the time of the accident. Witness report seeing the Mercedes takeoff at a high rate of speed, lose control and slam into the viaduct. Police saythe viaduct left the man trapped in his crumpled car.

According to a spokesman for the Cook County MedicalExaminer’s office, no other passengers were in the car, and alcohol is not believedto have been involved in the accident.
